Although the tourism sector accounts for about 25% of GDP,56 international tourist arrivals to the country have been growing irregularly: in 2008 about 585,000 tourists arrived, in 2009 it dropped to 542,000 and in 2010 it rose to 642,000. These mainly come from Australia, New Zealand or the United States. The company that manages this sector is the Fiji Visitors Bureau.
Most tourists stay in resorts on the west coast of the island of Viti Levu, attracted mainly by the warm climate, diving and duty-free shopping.
